Il tire son origine du sous-vêtement en coton porté par les soldats français lors de la première guerre mondiale. Les soldats de la US Navy, alors lassés de leur maillot de corps en laine peu agréable, décident de s’en inspirer pour en faire un haut à manches courtes et col rond. Ça y est, le premier t-shirt est né ! Mais à l’époque, il s’agissait purement d’un sous-vêtement : pas question de sortir avec.
